Admissions to Medicine and Dental programs differ from state to state. NEET UG is a common National level examination whose scores are accepted by all institutes across India. Here in this article, we would be looking in detail into the admission process followed at Medical and Dental colleges in Uttarakhand.

The admission to Medical and Dental programs in the state of Uttarakhand will be based on the merit acquired by the candidate in their NEET-UG entrance examination 2019. The admission process will be conducted in two modes i.e. (a) state and management quota seats and (b) All India Seats. All candidates who have qualified for NEET entrance will further be notified for the counselling process. The counselling session will be conducted by Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University. Furthermore, the counselling will be carried out in two rounds. The first will be an online mode which will be followed by a mop-up round to fill the vacant seats.

Application for Counselling

As per the latest notification, the application forms for completing the first round of counselling will be available online mode starting the 4th week of June. However, the candidates are supposed to qualify their NEET and must be listed in the NEET state merit list. A list will be released separately for each of the counselling rounds. However, the counselling for the All India Seats will be carried out by the Directorate General of Health Sciences (DGHS) and conducted on behalf of the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).

(Note: A maximum of two rounds of online counselling will be conducted which will be followed by a mop-up round. However, in the case of BDS there will be two mop-up sounds)

Eligibility Criteria

In order for availing admission for MBBS and BDS in top colleges in Uttarakhand must meet the below-listed criterion:

  • Each candidate must have qualified their 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in PCM. The minimum aggregate for SC/ ST/ OBC is 40% and PwD is 45%.
  • Candidates must have completed 17 years as on December 31, 2019. However, the upper age limit is subject to the guidelines as prescribed by NTA.
  • The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.

Additional Requirements

Along with the above points, candidates must also fulfil the domicile requirements. The below-listed category of candidates are eligible for seeking admission to MBBS/ BDS under the state quota seats:

  • The candidate must be either a domicile or permanent resident of Uttarakhand having qualified both class 10 as well as 10+2 from a recognized institution located in the state.
  • Candidates who do not hold domicile or permanent residency of the state but have qualified their class 10 and 10+2 from any institution located in Uttarakhand. However, such candidates won't be eligible for any kind of reservation.

Uttarakhand Application Process

The registration will be conducted separately for each round of counselling. As per the latest notification, the application process will commence from the 4th week of June. After the completion of the first round, the candidates can register for the second round.

Registration

Candidates can register for the counselling process using the NEET 2019 credentials including roll number and login id. Herein, candidates will have to fill in their personal details including name, birth date, and registered mobile number. After the successful registration, the candidates will receive a verification code on their registered mobile number. This has to be used as the default password.

Data submission

Following registration, the aspirant will have to continue with filling the NEET score and rank, personal, academic and communication detail.

Upload documents

Candidates must upload the scanned copy of all the mentioned documents including photo, signature as well as left-hand thumbprint in the prescribed format in addition to other documents.

Fee Payment

It is mandatory for every candidate to make the payment of a fee for proceeding to the next step. One can make the payment either online i.e. via Debit/ Credit/ Net banking or through offline mode. If you are making payment through offline mode, it is essential to carry along the Bank Challan at the time of document verification.

Choice Filling

Filling of seats via state quota opportune aspirants to fill in their choice of college they would like to seek admission to. Later based on the choices listed by the candidates in addition to taking into consideration other factors such as Merit, seats available and category the concerned authority will allocate colleges during the subsequent counselling sessions. Candidates can list as many colleges as they wish. However, it is recommended to fill in the choice only after being fixed about where you would like to seek admission to.

Allocation of Seats

Now that you have filled the seat choice the next step is the allocation of seats by the authority. Chances are if you are unhappy with the choice allocated to you, you can however go ahead to fill your choice for second counselling. However, in case you are dissatisfied by the choices given to you, the counselling can be certainly cancelled. Herein, it is important to note that if the candidate has already paid their counselling amount and fees, no refund will be applicable in such scenarios.

(Note: It is compulsory for the selected candidates to report to the respective colleges on the allotted dates without fail with the below-listed documents, failing which the candidates' admission will stand cancelled)
