The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public, deemed research university dedicated to science, engineering, design, and management education and research. IISc has a rich legacy of fundamental scientific contributions as well as the application of its research findings for societal benefit.

The institute was founded in 1909. A visionary partnership between Sir Jamsetji Tata, the Royal Family of Mysore, and the Government of India was instrumental in the establishment of IISc.

Why Choose IISc Bangalore?

  • IISc has placed equal emphasis on the pursuit of fundamental knowledge in science and engineering, as well as on leveraging research findings for the country's industrial and social welfare.
  • The distinguishing element of IISc is its faculty's close involvement with industry and government research funding and initiatives. When it comes to Citations per Faculty, IISc is ranked 11th in the world and 3rd in Asia.
